The hotel lies on a 25-hectare private estate known as Balaclava along Turtle Bay (between Port Louis and Grand Bay) on the northwest coast, which is the sunniest region of Mauritius.
The distance to the airport is 60 km (45 min.), to Port Louis 12 km (15min.) and Grand Bay 12 km (15min). New trunk roads provide easy access to the hotel.

The Estate
“Balaclava” is a historical estate dating back to the 18th century, with fascinating natural scenery. On the northern border flows Rivière Citron, over dams and cascades into a shallow lagoon flanked by lush tropical vegetation.
Mysterious ruins remain to be explored as witnesses of the colonial times. Walkways and foot-paths allow for long walks through the luxuriant garden of the estate with its magnificent views over the most picturesque mountain range in Mauritius.

Beach & Sea
“Turtle Bay” is the first Marine National Park in Mauritius with well preserved underwater life. There are excellent snorkelling grounds right off the beach.
The white sandy beach in front of the hotel is about 500 m long and protected by a coral reef. The bay has excellent conditions for all kind of water sports.

Over-looking the pool, comfortable and relaxing. Afternoon tea and fresh pancakes. Early bird breakfast from 04.30 to 07.30 hours.
Beach Bar
Nicely situated amidst the palm trees, on the beachfront in our La Marée Restaurant. Drinks, snacks and grills during the day.
Afternoon tea with home-made pastries.

“Belle Vue”
Main Restaurant: 546 sqm
Terrace restaurant on split-levels under an expansive wooden roof.
Excellent view over the pool and the sea from all tables. 300 covers.

Buffet with an extensive selection of hot and cold dishes, home-made bread, tropical fruits, cereals, pastries, etc.
Lunch - 12.30 - 15.30 hrs.

5 times weekly different buffets or barbecues. On the other days, table d’hôte menus with several choices for the various courses.

A large multi-purpose function room with its own foyer as well as an open-air terrace over-looking the bay. Fully air-conditioned room “Mon Désir”: 180 sqm (maximum 60 persons)
Fully air-conditioned with sea-view. It is ideal for exclusive 1-day workshops, presentations or smaller seminars. There is a small “upper deck” suitable for coffee/tea breaks.
Available until 16.00 hrs.
Room “Arsenal”: 20 sqm (maximum 12 persons)
A small air-conditioned room, on the upper floor.
Well suited for executive meetings.

Health and Beauty Centre
FU SUI AN: Meaning “Wind”.“Water”, and “Simple thatched pavillion”. A Japanese style selfcontained modern complex including sauna & steam bath, cold plunge, power shower and an outdoor relaxation area. Open daily from 08.15 – 20.30 hrs.
Also at your disposal: Hair-dresser, beautician, massage, pedicure & manicure.

Sports
Maritim Hotel offers the most extensive variety of sports facilities. Daily activities include games and competitions such as beach-volley, petanque, table-tennis,water-polo and football. Except where otherwise specified, all sports and use of sports equipment are free of charge.
Golf
A 9-hole (par 29) golf course, designed by Graham Marsh and our golf-pro. Each hole can be played from 2 different tees. Driving range and putting green. Golf-pro available for individual lessons, beginners and advanced courses. No green fees for residents. Clubs rental: Euro 10 per set. Available daily from 08.00 - 17.30 hrs.
Gym
Located next to the pool and adjacent to the Wellness Centre. Our 150 sqm fully air-conditioned gym is fitted out with a selection of modern equipment. Available daily from 08.15 - 20.30 hrs
Horse Riding
Open from Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 16.00 hrs the stables and the corral are on the upper part of the property. There are 8-12 horses and ponies. Lessons in the corral at minimal fee.
Tennis
3 foodlit synthetic tennis courts. Rackets available from the hotel.
Boat-House
Open daily: 09.30 - 17.00 hrs
Fully equipped for all kind of water sports. Water-sports are completely free of charge and are not subject to any time limits.
Collective lessons for skiing and wind-surfing are also free.

Water-skiing, sailing (Hobie-cats & Lasers), canoeing, glass-bottom boat trips, snorkelling.
Diving Centre
Open daily, except Sunday 09.00 - 16.00 hrs
The centre is fully equipped to take 10 divers on 2 dives per day. Equipment includes tanks, regulators, masks, snorkels, fins, weight belts, wet-suits and stabilizing jackets.
The cost per dive is approximately Euro 20. Equipment rental: Euro 5.
The Diving Centre also offers the following, for a reasonable fee:

Activities
Bicycle Tours - Tours through the Mauritian country side with a guide from the hotel. Cost approximately Euro 5 per person.
Mountain Hiking Tours - Explore one of the peaks of the Port Louis / Moka mountain range with a guide. The cost approximately Euro 10 per person.
Sailing & Catamaran Cruises - A comfortable sailing yacht is available in front of the hotel.
The programme of day cruises includes trips to Port Louis, Grand Baie, Coin de Mire and outer islands as well as leisurely sunset cruises. The cost per person range from Euro 25 to Euro 40.
Big Game Fishing
A fleet of motor yachts are available for half and full day charters. Trips start directly from the hotel jetty (no transport required). The equipment on board is according to IGFA standards.
