Trekking Rando

Yan's Profile
I grew up in Black River on the West coast of Mauritius. As a kid, I was fascinated by water sports. Later on I started enjoying jogging regularly until it became one of my favorite sports. In fact this sport is a true wonder. I am taking much pleasure doing mountain running. I am now mountaining and guiding tourists, mostly on the West and South West region of the island. Mauritius appears to be an unexpected ‘green’ destination. Its relief of basaltic mountains shape up the in- land. Each peak offers a unique panoramic sight of this most appreciated well known paradise.

Nature Walk
Le Morne Brabant: Preserved Area
Magnificent Panoramic with the angle of the Wests coast and Southern part of the island. Considered as the inaccessible mountain of the runaway slaves. Unique habitat of the Trochétia; plant emblem of the island.
Altitude: 500m
Good physical condition required.

Tamarin Peak
Splendid 360º Panoramic view revealing the West coast, the Yemen valley and the mountain range of the Central Plateau.
Altitude: 548 m
Good physical condition required.

Black River Gorge: National Park (6700 ha)
Natural habitat of deers, monkeys, wild pigs and more than nine species of endemic birds. Practically virgin forest with cascades and rivers.
Degree of difficulty: Easy to fairly difficult.

Corps de Garde Mountain
An imposing sight of the island as a whole. All there is as far as the eye can see!
Altitude: 780m.
Good physical condition required.

Boat Ride
Exclusive rides at the discovery of Mauritius nautical paradise whose color and transparency of water are a true wonder. A thrilling moment among the dolphins, diving in apnea and discovering the underwater world in company of fish and corals. Crossing of the most beautiful lagoon of the West: les Fonds Blancs and the Morne Brabant. BBQ on the Bénitiers Island.

Mountain bike
Patrick, voted official athlete of the year 1996 and decorated by the President of the Republic, represented Mauritius in cycling in several international championships. He is now involved with his passion the mountain biking. Patrick will make you discover on mountain bike the reserve of La Nicoliere with panoramic views of the islands in the North and cycling through forests and along rivers. Possibility of seeing stags and other wild animals. Mountain biking in Chamarel Valley, will allow you to discover the valley and its multi-colored eath, its banana, coffee and sugar plantations.

Trail Running
Trail Running or Mountain Race is an outdoor activity in full expansion. This page is dedicated to most runners. I have chosen the most beautiful spot on the island: the private property of the Cambier family on the peninsula of the Morne Brabant on the South West of Mauritius. This historical site is well known for its famous mountain, once the refuge of the run away slaves. The site will soon be classified by UNESCO. The native forest is of great diversity, with some very rare species such as the Trochetia: the traditional flower of Mauritius. Stags are prosperous; amazing to see them on the slopes! The South East wind keeps the air clean and the paths are best adapted to the guests. The scenery is stunning: the dark volcanic rock, the complete range of blues from the lagoons and the green preserved nature. This is a breathtaking outdoor achievement, that I accompany personally.
