Casela was opened on the 12th December 1979 and renovated in 2001. This park belongs to the Medine Sugar Estate and covers an area of 14 hectares.

What everyone knows is that…
Casela hosts around 1500 birds of 150 species in 90 aviaries, cages with Mauritian Macaques, tigers, lemurs, ostriches, giant tortoises etc…
What is less known is that…
a small petting farm was opened this year to allow closer encounter between the visitors and uncommon animals such as wallabies, emu, deer, wild boar etc...

to make a visit of Casela a memorable one, a visit of the African corner, where antelopes introduced, is a must.and zebras have just been introduced and are a must see...

This park can only be visited in a safari bus of 25 seats. The visit lasts 30 minutes. Departures are scheduled every half hour on a first come first serve basis except if there was pre-booking.







The animals in the park are the zebras, the kudus, the springbucks, the blesbucks, the impalas, the elands, the oryx, the Java deer,
iaxis deer, the ostriches, the nandus, the emus, the Guinea fowls, the monkeys as well as a variety of ducks and geeses.

In total more than 150 animals roams almost freely the 100 hectares of African savannah of the Safari park.

Satellite activities with a departure from Casela have just been introduced under the label Casela Yemen Nature Escapade.They take place in the exclusivity of the Yemen reserve despite a technical and administrative logistic from Casela.

Description:  Stoned walls and thatch roof. Big covered area and square open veranda. Magnificent view on the West Coast. Name: Le Mirador – (the Lookout)

Veranda: 50Opening hours: 10.00am to 5.00pm– Every day. Closed on 25th of December and 1st of January
Evenings: On reservation only. Possibility of organising theme evenings (African, Oriental and Creole suggested
Parking Capacity: 60 cars

Yemen
Yemen, domain found between the mountain of Tamarin and the Trois Mamelles, is home to two of the longest rivers of the island: Rempart and Tamarin.

The name of Yemen dates back the 19C when Father de La Butte owned the place.
