The Trou aux Biches village extends over several kilometres alongside the northern west coast of Mauritius, outlined by its houses, numerous shops and hotels. The beach is immense and magnificent with an inviting and irrestible turquoise blue water. Even though several hotels have taken ownership of this beautiful beach, you can stroll all the way alongside the beach, lay down your towel anywhere to sunbathe eventhough you do not reside at the hotel. The security patrol guards around are there for your safety and to foresee any potential incidents. The water is shallow at Trou aux Biches and you will need to move about 50 to 100 metres into the water in order to see beautiful corals and fish. There is an ideal spot to see spectacular coral, multicoloured fish and marine life and this is opposite the Casuarina Hotel ***, situated at the end of Trou aux Biches. The sand there is very fine and as the water is slightly deeper you do not have to go far to admire those beautifully coloured fish, 30 to 40 metres only. Several activities are available on the beach, such as Sea ski, Parachute surfing, speedboats, glass bottom boats, scuba diving, deep sea fishing or lagoon fishing. Ambulant sellers will offer you to buy almost anything from fresh fruit, local finger food, such as samoussas (curry puffs ), coconuts, to shells, necklaces, sarrongs, even oysters. Please keep in mind that those selling the shells, and the oysters sellers may quote you an exhorbitant price for their products...
