Historical heritage
The "Isla Mauritia“ is truly a magnificent example of the world's nautical history. It is the last vessel of its category in the world, which is still afloat. Thanks to some modifications, and regular maintenance this vessel is still operating in Mauritian waters and undertakes day sailing cruises so that everyone gets the opportunity to set the clock back and experience some romancefrom the old ages!
Shipbuilding
The "Isla Mauritia" was built in 1852 (genuine certified) by the famous Sollier's shipyards in Spain (Majorca). It took 2 years in the making...to transform 90 tonnes of wood (Spanish pine) into this elegant schooner. To ensure that the ship retains its original conditions maintenance checks are conducted on a daily basis and a complete assessment every year.
Sailing cruise
A cruise is not where it ends... as "Isla Mauritia" is also a floating museum. On board of this old sailing boat, guests will experience the old ages of romance, sheer excitement of traditional sailing and quality services; it will ideally complement their stay in Mauritius.
Service
With approximately 40 to 50 people on board, crew members will provide a personalised and attentive service for each guest in a friendly, jolly and relaxed atmosphere.
Crew
The crew members are professional sailors, each with more than 7 years experience on ocean sailing boats; they all hold the Royal Society Life Saving Certificate and are knowledgeable in their respective tasks in details. Keeping in mind that if the ocean is their garden, "Isla Mauritia" is their home! They are versatile and also function as stewards, entertainers, animators to create a very pleasant atmosphere on board. But be assured that professionalism of the crew is enforced...
Experience
Isla Mauricia has over 24 years experience in providing the traditional Mauritian hospitality, with today's spirit. Its main objective is to maintain their reputation and goodwill.
Safety
The safety of all guests and crew while on board is Isla Mauritia's highest priority. "Isla Mauritia" is equipped with radar, GPS, VHF-radio, first-aid kits and life jackets. These safety measures are in line with and meet the international standards.
Insurance
Isla Mauritia has its insurance contract with La Prudence Mauricienne for personal goods and properties liabilities

Standard Sailing Cruise itinerary
Arrival at Grand Bay - the meeting point is situated in front of Yacht Charters office.
9.35am: Passengers board small boats which will take them to the historical Isla Mauritia.
10.00am: The skipper welcomes everyone and gives necessary briefing on the trip and the security measures on board.
10.15am: The boat sets sail along the North West coast towards ‘Carpenters Bay” while you experience the old ages romance and sheer excitement of traditional sailing on this unique magnificent classical ship.
12:20pm: Arrival at ‘Carpenters Bay’. There will be swimming and snorkeling, sun-bathing on the beach (Snorkeling equipments are provided on board).
12h45 Lunch is served in a picnic style, beef curry, fish curry with two salads, together with white and red wine, soft drinks and beers followed by ice cream as dessert.
14h00 Live sega entertainment played by the multitalented crew.
Preparation for the trip back to “Isla Mauritia” by small boat.
14h30 “Isla Mauritia” set sail back to Grand Bay. Enjoy a cup of coffee and cake while admiring the islands outlines. Soft drinks, fresh beer, some rum and cola are also served on the way back.
16h45 Arrival in Grand Bay, slow disembarcation at Yacht Charters jetty with live sega animation and sailors’ song.

Welcome on board and short briefing by the crew.
17h15 – 19h15 Isla Mauritia” sets sail towards the north islands or another itinerary will be chosen according to the wind and sea conditions (final decision by the Skipper).
On board Drinks and snacks are served to musical entertainment
Passengers enjoy the setting sun in music.
The sailing boat sets sail in the direction of Grand Bay and moored while the last drinks are served and live sega music is played by the crew.
19h15 – 19h30 Slow disembarcation at the jetty of Grand Bay.

There may be some changes to the itinerary according to the seasons (summer / winter) and customers' wishes.

South African white and rosé wine. “Pirates delight” (punch), beer, nonalcoholic drinks (Coca cola, Fanta, Sprite, Mineral water)
Snacks
A choice of seven varieties from the following list:

Wedding Ceremonies
Introduction
Wedding ceremonies can be held on Isla Mauritia according to the wishes of the couple. The ceremony can just bring together the groom, the bride, a legal representative and a photograph (for example) or, of course, other relatives and guests. The program should be exactly defined in advance with Yacht Charters Ltd.
Program
Arrival in Grand Bay (jetty of Yacht Charters) in the afternoon.
Embarkation on small boats to get on board Isla Mauritia; welcome and short briefing by the crew and the skipper.
Isla Mauritia sets sail towards the north islands or another itinerary will be chosen according to the wind and sea conditions (final decision by the skipper). Musical entertainment on board.
The wedding ceremony will be held in accordance with the wishes of the couple (time and place). Assistance by crew members if need be.
Drinks and snacks are served with music.
Live music by some crew members (music pieces chosen by the couple).
Isla Mauritia sets sail in the direction of Grand Bay again. After having dropped the anchor, more drinks are served and the crew plays music live.
